I grew up along the banks of the Allegheny River in a small Western Pennsylvania town called Foxburg. Foxburg is the home to the United State's oldest golf course and you could easily drive a ball across the community and not be in danger of hitting any one of its 300 citizens.
The musical influences were always strong in the family. I started singing at a very young age and picked up the guitar when I was 14 years old. Through my formidable teen and college years the musical influences were extensive, including classical, jazz, folk and rock. Incorporating those influences I developed an acoustic guitar fingerstyle that carried into my time with a folk trio called "The 3 of Us". Two cousins and I founded the family trio in 1994 and continued writing and playing music for over a decade, playing countless shows around the Mid-Atlantic and releasing two CDs of original music.
I have since retired from music and now am employed as the Lead System Architect for JMC Steel Group, the largest steel tube manufacturer in North America. With the company headquartered in Chicago, IL, I am fortunate to have the flexability to base operations in an office out of Western Pennsylvania. You have to LOVE technology.
I still try to pick up a guitar my spare time, and will pop in for an occasional reunion with the old band-mates, but between work and being a full-time dad I'm extremely fulfilled with this satisfying life we've built.
When I'm not keeping the tube mills running you can typically find me out in the woods under my alias "AcousticNut", using a billion-dollar satellite system to find hidden ammo cans. Otherwise known as GeoCaching it's a great way to spend time outdoors, discover new areas and learn about the history about our region.
I would like to think those who have been a part of the journey up to this point and welcome those who are coming aboard for the rest of the ride.
