For over a decade ‘The 3 of Us’ quietly built a reputation as one of the most talented acoustic trios in the contemporary folk music community.

‘The 3 of Us’ worked to achieve a rare blend of intelligent songwriting, complementing acoustic guitars and 3-part harmonies and created a brand of contemporary acoustic folk music that is uniquely their own.

The members of this gifted family trio, consisting of brother & sister, Jeff Powell and Jenny Lowrey, & cousin, Jerry Baum, were born and together raised in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains in Western Pennsylvania. It was in their hometown of Emlenton, along the banks of the wild & scenic Allegheny River, that they nurtured a friendship, created a musical style and developed a small town charm that is reflected in their stories, songs and stage presence. 

But time passed, and in the late 80's each went their separate ways to pursue their individual life's interests. Jeff sharpened his vocal skills as the lead singer in the rock band, "Ask A Stranger", with whom he released a CD and toured the North East extensively.  Jenny attended the esteemed Shenandoah Conservatory where she studied music under Grammy-nominated conductor, Robert Shaffer, and toured Europe twice.  Meanwhile, Jerry honed his fluid fingerpicking guitar style and developed his unique writing skills as a creative writing major at Penn State University.

After half a decade apart, 'The 3 of Us' formed in 1994 when Jeff, Jenny, & Jerry graduated college and returned home to re-join their unique talents. They were intent on proving that the whole would truly be greater than the sum of what had become very distinct parts.

Upon the initial reunion in February of 1994, ‘The 3 of Us’ knew that they had created something special and began writing, playing, and building a loyal fan base throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

In 1997, ‘The 3 of Us’ paid homage to their upbringing by releasing their much anticipated debut recording, Allegheny Hideaway. The recording features the group's luscious harmonies and yielded three national Internet top 10 singles. 

Their sophomore effort, 'Sketches', features the strong songwriting and lush harmonies that fans and critics have come to expect. 'Sketches' is off to a strong start with its first two singles, 'Remember' & 'Sidewalkin Man', each reaching #2 on the iuma.com and mp3.com international Folk charts respectively.

Yet, the power of ‘The 3 of Us’ truly lies in their live performances where they transport listeners to a simpler time and place where keys are left in cars, deals are sealed with a handshake, and neighbors know you by name
